<p>PURPOSE: To control the position of a shut-off ball by providing the fuel filter with a canister which has an open end and to which open end a plate is mounted, a fluid permeable tubular member and a filter medium. CONSTITUTION: When fluid flows into a filter through an inlet opening 20, the fluid flows to the outside surface of the filter medium 38. This fluid freely passes the filter medium, progresses into a rigid tubular member 22 and emerges outside the filter through an outlet opening 18 of the plate 16. The filter medium 38 captures solid material and the filtered fluid is obtd. from the outlet opening 18. The fluid pressure in the canister 10 is applied on the ball 40 and the ball 40 is so moved as to come into hermetic contact with washer members 30, 32. When water in the fluid flows into the canister 10, the water is captured by the filter medium 38. As a result, sure removal of the water is made possible.</p> |
