PURPOSE:To allow stable signal transmission by incorporating a near IR absorbent into a resin used for a fiber or sheath. CONSTITUTION:The near IR absorbent is used to solve the instability of the optical fiber with a near IR LED. Namely, the near IR absorbent is incorporated into the resin used for the fiber or sheath. The addition of this near IR absor bent is to the large transmission loss peak of 860 to 900nm of the plastic optical fiber (POF) or polymer clad glass fiber (PCF) and since a hygroscopic loss is required to be added to the short wavelength side so as to oppose to this peak, the mas. absorption thereof is required to be selected at <= 830nm and the smallest possible absorption is required to be selected at <= 850nm. The signal transmission is more stably executed in this way. |
