Carboxylic acid esters having the general formula (I), R<1>-O-C(O)-(CH2)x-O-C6H4-(CH2)y-C(O)-O-R<2>; in which R<1> and R<2> independently represent alkyl groups with 1-4 carbon atoms, x is an integer between 1 and 4 and y = 1 or 2, are anti-inflammatory active substances useful in the production of topical pharmaceuticals or cosmetics.
