PURPOSE:To produce the subject compound in high yield by reacting dichloromethane, alcohol and CO in liquid phase with using a solid catalyst comprising a carbonaceous carrier carrying Co or Co compound and effectively performable of recovering and reusing. CONSTITUTION:Dichloromethane is reacted with alcohol (especially aliphatic or alicyclic alcohol is preferable) and carbon monoxide in liquid phase in the presence of a solid catalyst composed of metallic cobalt or cobalt compound (e.g. chloride or bromide nitrate) carried on a carbonaceous carrier such as activated charcoal, carbon black, graphite or coke to afford the objective malonic ester. By this method, the separation of reactional product, unreacted substance and catalyst can readily be performed and the catalyst after reaction is not deteriorated at all. Therefore, the circulation and reusing of the catalyst are simply and readily performed and malonic ester is able to be obtained in high yield. |
