PURPOSE:To produce didesmethoxyschizandrin by treating schizandrin with a fungus belonging to the genus Mortierella to give monodesmethoxyschizandrin and treating this compound with Lewis acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid. CONSTITUTION:Schizandrin shown by formula I is treated with a fungus belonging to the genus Mortierella to produce monodesmethoxyschizandrin shown by formula II. This monodesmethoxyschizandrin is treated with Lewis acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid to produce didesmethoxyschizandrin shown by formula III. Mortierella sp.TM-10501, sp.TM-10702, etc., may be cited as the concrete example of the fungus belonging to the genus Mortierella. Hydroxyl groups at the 12and 13-positions of prepared didesmethoxyschizandrin are converted to methylenedioxyl to industrially synthesize gomisin A. |
