[Also in Divisions F2, F4, G1 H1] An electromagnetically operable valve assembly 64 for use in a gas supply system has a casing threaded at 78 for securing it in the valve housing (10) and the coil (72) of the electromagnet has one end thereof connected to earth whilst the other end is connected to seat (76) located at the inner end of tapped hole 88. Leads 94, 95 extend from terminal element 90 to a thermal switch (not shown) and lead 104 extends from head 100 of plug 102 to a thermocouple (not shown). When the assembly 64 is inserted in housing 10, the electrical connections are made by inserting element 90 into hole 88 so that the end of lead 94 abuts seal 76 and then threading plug 102 into hole 88 so that head 100 abuts the end of lead 95. A retaining disc 96 holds element 90 in position, bead (98) of the disc engaging groove 84. As shown in Fig. 20, element 90 comprises a plastics casing formed initially in two halves to receive the flattened ends 322, 328 of leads 94, 98. An insulating strip 337 is located between the leads and a conductive washer 388 defines a seat for head 100. Dowels 390, 392 locate the two halves which are welded peripherally after assembly.</p> |
