<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate to extract a signal in the case of searching for a subcode signal at a high speed by detecting the signals having the same pattern that accounts for the greatest number among (n) pieces of M-bit signals obtained in prescribed section and deciding the signals having the same pattern as the accurate M-bit signals. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 1 is alternately helically scanned by a rotary head, and a track 2 is formed on the magnetic tape 1, and then, the M-bit signals overlapped and recorded on 1st and 2nd subcode areas 3 and 7 on the track 2 are detected at the time of searching at a high speed. And the signals having the same pattern that accounts for the greatest number among (n) pieces of M-bit signals obtained in the prescribed section are detected and the signals having the same pattern are decided as the accurate M-bit signals. Thus, the probability that the plural patterns errorneously detected because the pattern being an object to be detected has plural bits gather as the same patter can be reduced. Thus, data having high reliability can be easily obtained even in search at a high speed, and the reliability in searching at a high speed, espe cially, by a starting identifying signal (ID), etc., can be improved.</p> |
