A yarn joining device comprises a splicing chamber with a lengthwise groove for introducing and joining the yarn ends by means of compressed air directed sideways. The yarn is introduced using a mobile delivery device which moves from a gripping position to a release position. The splicing chamber is closed by a cap or hood, and the ends of the joined yarns are automatically severed.The spliced join is compact and reliable, and may be applied to the finest yarns
