The capacitor chip has a sintered anode element (1) enclosed by a plastics casing (9), to which the anode and cathode leads (2, 6) are attached. The plastics casing incorporates a recess (10) locating the anode wire with the connection point between the anode wire (4) and the external anode lead (6) lying on the outside of the plastics casing (9). Pref. the external anode lead incorporates slits or ribs for guiding the anode wire, the connection between the anode lead and the anode wire provided by a rolled seam, or by laser or ultrasonic welding. ADVANTAGE - Reduced amt. of space of use as surface mounted device.
