The laser device uses a laser beam for removal of tissue from the cornea, with the penetration depth of the laser beam controlled by a sector light stop inserted in the beam path and rotated about an axis extending in the beam direction. The light stop has spokes extending from its centre to its edge, each with a rear radial edge and a curved front edge. The latter curvature is defined by a given function in terms of a value, which is itself defined by a further function dependent on the curvature radius of the cornea before the operation and the required curvature radius after the operation. ADVANTAGE - Allows precise correction of cornea curvature radius.
