PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a substrate by the irradiation heat of a beam for recording by providing 1st and 2nd protective layers essentially consisting of a specific oxide, sulfide or nitride in proximity to a thin film for recording. CONSTITUTION:The thin film 4 for information recording which is formed on the substrate 1 and generates a change by receiving the irradiation with a beam for recording is provided. The 1st protective layer 3 which consists of at least one material selected from the materials essentially consisting of the oxide, sulfide or selenide having the thermal conductivity ranging >= 0.5 W/m.K and <= 6W/m.K and exists on the side near the thin film 4 for informa tion recording is provided in proximity to the thin film 4 for information record ing. The 2nd protective layer 2 which consists of at least one material selected from the materials essentially consisting of the oxide, carbide or nitride having the thermal conductivity ranging >= 8W/m.K and <= 50W/m.K is provided. The change in the shape on the substrate surface by a laser beam for recording is prevented in this way and the degradation in the recording sensitivity is prevented.
