A gas-tight maintenance-free accumulator has a filler opening (8) provided with a recess (11) protruding into the gas space (12), which receives a closure (14). Outwards from the closure (14) there feeds into the recess a tube (15) which in the lying-down state of the accumulator is parallel to the roof-wall (10) in the upper region of the accumulator. An overpressure valve (16) is inserted into the filler opening. The recess and the tube may be integral. The closure may be clipped into the recess, e.g. by a closure disc snapped into a perimeter slot. USE - Accumulator useable in erect or prostrate orientation.
