Modular heat exchanger block with flattened tubes - gripped between complementary edge recesses in transverse terminal plate components

In a heat exchanger block, a series of flattened tubular elements (3) each with surface-enhancing elements intendigitated between each other from upper and lower main surfaces, are superimposed. The upper and lower elements (6,1) of terminal plates for the block have edge recesses holding half the tubular element cross-section. Between the elements are similarly recessed intermediate elements (4) continuing the upper and lower elements and with any further intermediate elements to complete the retaining cavities for the tubular elements. The tubular elemetns, e.g. four in a flock, are sepd. by transverse corrugated strips. The block may be assented with apertured terminal headers, and bonded, e.g. by furnace-brazing. ADVANTAGE - Block can be assembled with reqd. number of modulated elements.
