PURPOSE:To attain low power consumption by transmitting only a pulse edge part of an input signal through an optical fiber, identifying the leading edge and trailing edge of the pulse depending on the difference in amplitude value at a reception section, and demodulating the signal into an original input signal. CONSTITUTION:After only a pulse edge of an input signal is picked up by a transmission section comprising a bipolar processing circuit 1, a driver 2 and plural LEDs 3, the resulting light is sent through an optical fiber 4 and the leading and trailing edges of the pulse are identified based on the difference in amplitude value at a reception section comprising a photodetector section PD5, a current voltage conversion circuit 6 and a PAM demodulation circuit 7, and demodulated into the original input signal. Moreover, the bipolarization circuit 1 is used to apply bipolar processing to the input signal waveform, thereby suppressing a current flowing to the LEDs to a small value. Thus, low power consumption is attained. |
