PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet material, composed of water-repellent ultrafine fiber, remarkably improved in water resistance and tensile tenacity without impairing high air permeability and softness of hand and suitable as backing sheet materials of sanitary napkins, diapers, etc., by dispersing and arranging parts in which fiber is mutually linked in the surface part. CONSTITUTION:The objective sheet material, composed of water-repellent ultrafine fiber (preferably having <=40dyne/cm critical surface tension on the surface, e.g. PE, PP, PS or polyvinylidene fluoride), having 0.5-3.0mm average fiber diameter and obtained by dispersing and arranging parts in which fiber is mutually linked in the surface part. Furthermore, the water resistant pressure of the aforementioned sheet material is preferably >=600mmH2O and air permeability is preferably >=3cc/sec/cm<2>. |
