A precision boring machine tool is controlled by a programmable control unit that allows holes of a specific depth (X) to be formed in components (60,61,62) that are of heights such that the distances from a reference line can vary (l0-l3). The system operates with a control unit that commences with a routine that determines the initial position of the tool. A movement is made until a detector identifies the surface of a workpiece relative to the reference position. At this point the feed motion is initiated to form the hole for the required depth. ADVANTAGE - Simplifies programme for boring machine. |
