摘要 PURPOSE: To effectively suppress optical hysteresis by using a specified liq. crystal switch and a specified display element in a ferroelectric liq. crystal medium display. CONSTITUTION: The liq. crystal switch and display element are used in a display. The display element consists of a ferroelectric liq. crystal medium(FLC), two electrodes, one polarizer, two transparent carrier plates and one orienting layer. This orienting layer has direct electric connection with the electrodes and contains an electrically conductive polymer having repeating untis represented by formula I, wherein each of R<1> and R<2> is H, 1-16C alkyl, 1-16C alkoxy or halogen, X is S or NH, Y<-> is BF4 <-> , PF5 <-> , PO4 <3-> , etc., (n) is an integer of 4-100 and (m) is an integer of 1-30. Optical hysteresis phenomenon in the FLC is suppressed.
