PURPOSE:To easily obtain the title dispersion wherein an alkaline earth metal borate is very finely and uniformly dispersed by reacting a mixture of a specified oil-soluble alkaline earth metal salt, an alkaline earth metal (hydr)oxide, boric acid (anhydride), an alkanol, water, and a diluent, and then heating the reacted mixture to remove water, etc. CONSTITUTION:The title dispersion is obtained by reacting at 20-120 deg.C a mixture of 100 pts.wt. oil-soluble alkaline earth metal salt (a) selected from among oil-soluble, neutral alkaline earth metal salts of salicylic acid, phenol, and catechol, 10-200 pts.wt. alkaline earth metal (hydr)oxide (b), boric acid (anhydride) (c) in an amount of 0.5-6.5mol per mol of component (b), 20-1000 pts.wt. 1-4C alkanol (d), 1-40 pts.wt. water (e), and 40-1000 pts.wt. diluent (f); and then heating the mixture at 100-200 deg.C to remove the water and, if necessary, part of the alkanol and/or diluent. This technique gives a dispersion wherein an alkaline earth metal borate is very finely and uniformly dispersed. |
