PURPOSE:To enable high quality quenching without lowering the working rate by detecting discoloring pattern in a work heated with irradiation of laser beam, comparing with the reference discoloring pattern and correcting positions of the work and condenser mirror for laser beam according to the difference. CONSTITUTION:One side face 6b in tooth 6a of spur gear 6 is irradiated with the laser beam 2 from a generator 1 through a reflecting mirror 3 and condenser mirror 4 in laser beam transferring passage 5 and heated to execute quenching. Then, the discoloring pattern of one side face 6b is detected with a CCD camera 10 and an image pickup signal is treated with a camera controller 11 and inputted to an image processing device 13 and compared with the preinputted reference discoloring pattern. When the difference comes to the certain value or more, this information is outputted to an NC unit 14 and the NC unit 14 drives the laser beam transferring passage 5 based on the information to correct the positions of the spur gear 6 and the condenser mirror 4. By this method, the quenching condition can be corrected in on-line and the high quality quenching without lowering the operating ratio is executed. |
