PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in preservability of images, free of lowering in brightness in blank areas upon exposure to high- temperature conditions, and showing high stability of recorded images and brightness upon exposure to light for a long time, by incorporating at least one specified compound in a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material comprises, on a support, a record ing layer which contains a colorless or ligh-colored basic dye and a color reac tion agent capable of a color reaction upon making contact with the dye, where in at least one compound of formula [I] is incorporated in the recording layer. Among other compounds of formula [I], 1- {2- [3- (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4- hydroxyphenyl) propionyloxy] - ethyl} -4- [3- (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionyloxy] -2,4,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine is particularly preferable because, when it is incorporated in the recording layer, a thermal recording material showing excellent presservability of recorded images even upon exposure to hot and humid conditions can be obtained. It is generally desirable to use the compound in an amount of 0.01 to 100 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the basic dye. |
