The foot section 2 of the windmill arm is cast into a steel sleeve 3, the interspace 7 between the foot section 2 and the steel sleeve 3 being filled at the bottom with a casting compound 8 and being filled around the upper edge of the steel sleeve with an elastomeric material 9, for example rubber. There is no direct contact between the steel sleeve 3 and the fibre-reinforced polyester material 5 of the arm. The construction reduced the risk of fatigue fractures caused by the difference in thermal expansion between steel and fibre-reinforced polyester and as a result of the vibration of the arm and bending loading during operation.
