The present invention relates to nucleotide sequences derived from the genomes of viruses of the HIV-1 type, or the genomes of viruses of the HIV-2 type or viruses of the SIV type, and their applications, especially as oligonucleotide primers for the implementation of a method of diagnosis in vitro of infection of an individual with a virus of the HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 type.
