<p>PURPOSE: To apply a uniform holding pressure to a journal to enable clamping by setting a first means placed at a center locking position at the lower end of an arm and two second means placed at side end positions at the lower ends of two jaws, in such a way that the means are located at the three apexes of an equilateral triangle. CONSTITUTION: Once a crankshaft 1 is conveyed directly below arms 7, a slider 4 is lowered, and the arms 7 are centered relative to a cylindrical journal 2 to be machined, by the guide faces 23a, 23b of guides 22a, 22b and the guide faces 21a, 21b of guides 20a, 20b, with the blocks 13 of the arms 7 guided onto the cylindrical journal 2 to be machined. Next, two jaws 14a, 14b are clamped together by the actuation of a jack 19. The operating range of the jack is controlled by two stoppers 25, 26 and regulated by the diameter of the journal 2 to be machined, whereby the two blocks 16a, 16b are pressed against the cylindrical journal 2 to be machined, from a diagonal downward direction.</p> |
