PURPOSE:To surely restrain the inner pressure rising in an air bag after expansion of the bag is completed by constituting the air bag of a lower bag ground fabric and an upper bag ground fabric to be sewed on the lower bag ground fabric, and providing via a continuity cutoff portion an auxiliary bag portion in a position upper than the sewing portion of both fabrics when the bag is expanded. CONSTITUTION:This air bag 1 includes a lower bag ground fabric 2 having a circular gas inlet opening 3 provided at the center of its lower part, and an upper bag ground fabric 6 sewed on the outer peripheral edge of the lower bag ground fabric 2 using a sewing thread 5 of nylon and the like to cover the portion above the lower bag ground fabric 2, and the bag 1 is so formed as to be roughly circular when expanded. The upper bag ground fabric 6 has two sets of a continuity cutoff portion 7 and an auxiliary bag 9 formed at two portions near those portion of the fabric 6 which are sewed to the lower bag ground fabric 2. The auxiliary bag 9 is formed by cutting the upper bag ground fabric 6 into a predetermined shape in accordance with the form of the auxiliary bag portion 9, bending the auxiliary bag portion 9 inwardly, and sewing the continuity cutoff portion 7 by means of a sewing thread 8. |
