PURPOSE:To maintain such characteristics as high printing or image quality and nonscatterability of a toner by adding specified amts. of silica powder and magnetic powder of <=0.8 mum average particle size to the base of the toner and mixing them. CONSTITUTION:The base of a toner is composed essentially of a binding resin, a colorant and 0.5-5 wt.%, in total, of a metallic complex (C-1) of oxycarboxylic acid and a metallic complex (C-2) of an azo compd. as electrostatic charge controlling agents. The weight ratio of (C-1)/(C-2) is 1/9-9/1. Silica powder and magnetic powder of <=0.8 mum average particle size are added to the base by-.1-1 wt.% and 0.05-2wt.%, respectively, a metallic salt of fatty acid is further added by 0.01-0.5 wt.% as required and they are mixed. The resulting toner causes no printing trouble, ensures required printing density and fog resistance and can be used over a long period of time. |
