The invention relates to a combined device which can be used both for sleeping and for having meals. When not in use, the device ressembles a roof luggage compartment fitted onto a motor vehicle, whereas in use it has the appearance of a shelter which has been removed and placed on the ground, by means of a mechanical transfer system, which also allows the compartment to be swivelled and held such that the lid and the base together form the roof of said shelter. Said device comprises a compartment-shelter (1) with a table (11), a support (6), legs (8 and 13), seats (18) and a bed (7 and 7a) together making up an assembly which can be set on the ground. The device also includes a mechanical transfer support which is fixed to the roof of a vehicle, consisting of profiles and rails (29 and 29a) to allow the sliding of a trolley (3) whose arms (32) are connected to the base of the luggage compartment (2). The device of the invention is especially designed for camping.
