PURPOSE: To allow a guide for machine parts to have constant characteristic damping to guide the machine parts in a shape fitting manner in coordinate directions by splitting a shoe along a horizontal plane, and guiding the upper and lower parts of the shoe by use of the upper and lower faces of a projection. CONSTITUTION: A shoe 20 is split into two along a horizontal plane 40, and the upper part 30 is guided by the upper face 52 of a projection 17 and the lower part by the lower face of the projection 17. This constitution allows the guide of a machine tool having synthetic resin pads 46, 48, 50 to have natural characteristic damping, either to prevent the transmission of great vibration resulting from a machining process with a large amount of removal of cutting, from one machine part to the other machine part, or to transmit the vibration while strongly damping it. The guide of the shoe 20 by use of a guide rail 11 having the projection 17 is utilized to enable the machine parts to be guided perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the guide rail 11 in a shape fitting manner in any coordinate directions. This is effective when an upward force, e.g. the repulsive force of the tool, is applied perpendicular to the guided machine parts, particularly if the guide rail 11 extends horizontally. |
