摘要 |
A process for the recovery of sulfur from a gas containing H2S is disclosed wherein the gas is reacted in the gaseous phase with at least one oxygen-containing gas selected from the group consisting of air, molecular oxygen, and SO, under suitable reaction conditions to produce sulfur and an effluent gas comprising H2S, SO2 and steam, wherein the molar ratio of H2S to SO2 in the effluent gas is in excess of about 20:1. In accordance with the invention, the amount of the oxygen-containing gas reacted with the acid gas is carefully controlled to insure an initial molar ratio within the reaction of H2S to SO2 in excess of 2:1.
