A lever 1 is supported at its generally middle portion by a pivot shaft 2 and thus has upper and lower portions which are bounded by the middle portion. A foot board 3 is pivotally mounted on the lower portion. The upper end of the lever 1 has a circular recess 6 for connection to an accelerator cable 4. The upper portion carries a damping mass 5 for suppressing resonant vibration of the lever. The mass 5 is so positioned that its centre of gravity G is on a straight line L which passes through the centre P of the pivoted middle portion and the centre Q of the recess 6. Thus, when the foot board 3 is depressed, the inertial force of the damping mass does not produce a torsional stress in the lever 1, because no moment is produced around the line L. <IMAGE> |
