PURPOSE: To make it possible to simplify the calibration system of a local output detector by arranging a local output detector and aγ-ray thermometer at an interval along the lengthwise direction of a detector assembly, and adopting the thermometer together with normal nuclear reactor heat balance. CONSTITUTION: One group of local output detectors M andγ-ray thermometers T are arranged at four different vertical positions (A, B, C, D). The first and second thermometers T, T are arranged in an inner space 72 of a coating tube 70, and connected to cables 74, 76. The detectors M are separated slightly at a distance (d) from the thermometers T, T, and the distance (d) is selected so that the thermal neutron flux becomes substantially uniform. The substantially lengthy part 82 of a detector assembly is disposed in a reactor core, and the part 84 continued thereto is disposed in a reactor vessel under the core. The part 86 under the assembly is disposed out of the vessel. With the constitution, if energy balance is known, the measured value of the thermometer T can be related to the reaction temperature at the arbitrary desired position, and the detectors M can be calibrated.
