This invention relates to a process for stabilizing aqueous solutions of hydrogen peroxide. The aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide is stabilized by incorporating a composition containing a mixture of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal pyrophosphate with a stabilizer belonging to the class of aminopolycarboxylic acids corresponding to the following general formula <IMAGE> in which x is a whole number which is 0, 1 or 2 and y is also a whole number equal to 0, 1 or 2, and salts of these acids. The solution stabilized in accordance with the invention has application in the bleaching of textiles and paper pulp.
