摘要 PURPOSE:To enable continuous production by continuously changing the ratio of a photopolymerized polymer to a thermopolymerized polymer in a linear optical transmission body from the center toward the periphery to form a refractive index distribution. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a thermopolymerized polymer with a photopolymerizable monomer is linearly shaped. The monomer in the shaped body is subjected to diffusion, scattering or other treatment to render a concn. distribution of the monomer and the monomer is polymerized by irradiating the shaped body with light after or while rendering the distribution. A fibrous optical transmission body having a circular cross-sectional shape and a refractive index distribution can be continuously produced. Since the mixing ratio of the polymer having a lower refractive index is increased from the center toward the periphery, the refractive index of the transmission body is continuously reduced from the center toward the periphery and light converging function or the function of a convex lens or an optical fiber is ensured.
