Novel oligonucleotide derivatives useful as ligands or DNA probes to be immobilized in a carrier are disclosed. The oligonucleotide derivatives of the present invention are represented by the formula [I] or [II]. (wherein m represents a natural number, B and B min , the same or different, represent a base selected from the group consisting of adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine, @ represents a deoxyribose residue which lacks hydroxyl groups on 3 min and 5 min position of 2 min -deoxyribose, X represents a functional group which can react with other materials, and Y represents a linker). (wherein m, B, B min , X, @, and Y represent the same meanings as in formula [I]).
