The invention provides a playing apparatus comprising a plurality of magazine type disc players (1-3). If it is determined that a disc including a designated music program to be played next to a music program which is being played at present exists in the magazine disc player which is in the inoperative mode at present, a search operation of the next designated music program is instructed to the inoperative disc player. Immediately after the completion of the play of the present music program, the play regarding the next designated music program is instructed to the disc player which was executed the search operation. Thus, the time which is required from the end of the play of the present music program until the start of the play of the next designated music program can be reduced.
