PROCESS FOR MODIFYING THE FLAVOR CHARATERISTICS OF TOBACCO

<p>Cured bright tobacco is heated in contact with ammonia as gas or aqueous solution at a temperature of 80 DEG C to 150 DEG C in a closed system. As a result its flavour is modified so that it can be used to replace Burley tobacco in commercial cigarette blends.</p>
