PURPOSE:To simplify water culture and enable water culture to reduce the cost and increase the yield by using an inorganic light-weight granulated aggregate which is prepared by foaming an ore at elevated temperature and a photosynthetic bacterium. CONSTITUTION:An ore such as obsidian, shale or sericite is fired at elevated temperature of about 1,000 deg.C to prepare a foamed light weight granulated aggregate (particle size: 1 to 10mm, water content: 20 to 50%). The granules are used as a support material for inoculation and settling in water culture. After settling, a photosynthetic bacterium is added to the water culture solution or sprayed on the leaves to conduct water culture. The photosynthetic bacterium used in this invention is, e.g. Rhodospirillum, Rhodopseudomonas, Rhodopila, Rhodobacter in Phodospirillaceae. |
