PURPOSE:To enhance whiteness and to make high speed recording aptitude excellent by providing a thermal color forming layer containing a colorless-light colored dye precursor and a specific coupler forming a color through the reaction with said dye precursor under heating. CONSTITUTION:A dihydroxydiphenoxybenzene compound is used along with a dye precursor such as a leuco dye as a coupler. The use amount of the coupler is pref. 10-1000wt.% of the leuco dye, more pref., 50-300%. A thermal color forming layer containing the coupler represented by formula I contains an electron donating dye precursor such as the leuco dye. These materials are mixed in an appropriate ratio to prepare the coating solution for the thermal color forming layer and this coating solution is applied to one surface of a sheet like support and dried and solidified to prepare thermal recording material. By this method, properties excellent in high speed recording aptitude, enhanced in whiteness, bringing about a non-pref. phenomenon such as whitening and well-balanced in quality are obtained. |
