PURPOSE:To improve the transmission efficiency and the voice quality by stopping the operation of a coder when a silent part of the sound signal is discriminated. CONSTITUTION:The silent part of the sound signal inputted from an input terminal 3 is discriminated by a voice discriminating device. Then the action control signal (a) of a coder 7 is outputted and a coder 7 stops its coding action as well as its output. Therefore a packet does not reach a voice packet disassembler 9 and the action control signal (b) of a decoder 10 is outputted from the disassembler 9. Thus the decoder 10 stops its decoding action and its output, and no output is received from an output terminal 4. Thus only the voice part of the packet is transmitted. Consequently, the transmission efficiency is improved together with the improvement of the voice quality since the coincidence is always secured between the actions of the coder 7 of the transmission side and the decoder 10 of the reception side. |
