NEW MATERIAL:A compound having the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, colorless plate crystal; melting point, 173-175 deg.C; molecular formula, C48H60N8O10; molecular weight, 908 (SI-MS, m/z 909 MH<+>); elemental analysis (%), C 61.24, H 6.85, N 11.89; specific rotation, [a]=+70.4 deg.C (C=0.3, MeOH); solubility, soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, etc., and scarcely soluble in water, chloroform, etc.; color reaction, positive to 10% sulfuric acid, molybdic acid, potassium permanganate, etc., and negative to ninhydrin reagent, etc.; neutral; etc. USE:Antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic bacteria. PREPARATION:A microbial strain belonging to genus Basidiobolus [e. g. Basidiobolus meristosporus M-1540 (FERM P-10831)] is cultured at 20-27 deg.C for 3-10 days by submerged cultivation. |
