PURPOSE:To obtain an ionomer composition excellent in heat resistance, transparency and toughness by mixing a specified ethylenic ionomer resin and a specified crystalline polyamide resin. CONSTITUTION:A composition comprising 50-95 pts.wt. ethylenic ionomer resin of an alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid content of 6-15mol% and a degree of neutralization with a transition metal cation of 20-100% and 50-5 pts.wt. crystalline polyamide resin of an m.p. >=170 deg.C. It is desirable that the ionomer resin is one having a melt flow rate of about 0.001-100dg/min, especially 0.01-1.0dg/min when measured at 190 deg.C under a load of 2160g. Examples of the crystalline polyamides used include nylon 6, nylon 66, nylon 610 and nylon MXD6. To obtain the ionomer composition, the ionomer and the polyamide are melt- kneaded at a temperature above their melting points, for example 170-300 deg.C.
