ROTARY ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM A rotary internal combustion engine has a rotor housing with drilled coolant passages extending generally axially therethrough, a thin wear-resistant liner lines the inner trochoid surface of the rotor housing. A ceramic insert may be used to insulate a top-dead-center region of the inner portion of the rotor housing. Some of the coolant passages may cross each other through a "V-crotch" portion of the housing between the spark plug and pilot injector bores.
