PURPOSE: To enable each step of exchange of an empty tube with full yarn package by each specifying movements of two mandrels for receiving a gripper and a yarn package adapter. CONSTITUTION: A gripper 22 of an automatically maintaining device B traveling along a yarn treating station is enabled so as to be rotated in the horizontal face and be moved upper and lower, and two mandrels 100 for receiving a yarn package adapter 5 are enabled to be rotated and moved upper and lower. Each mandrel moves upper and lower in the perpendicular direction at the position of the outside of the device B. One of the mandrels can receive the yarn package adapter supporting the full yarn package 6 from an over head conveyer, and the other mandrel deliver a yarn package adapter having empty tube 6' to the over head conveyer.
