<p>PURPOSE: To improve signal output by controlling relative approach of a head chip relating to a tape along a helical tape path in a given level with respect to the tape along the length of a path. CONSTITUTION: A scanner assembly body 10 is provided with a fixed drum 17 having a center axial line, a rotary drum 18 coming close to the fixed drum 17 and having rotary center axial line and a magnetic head 23. The magnetic head 23 is provided with a chip end 24, a helical tape path 20 is provided in the rotary drum 18 so as to outwardly project the chip end 24. The helical tape path 20 is provided with a head inlet area 25 and head outlet area 26, the fixed drum 17 and its center axial line are displaced in the direction of the head outlet area 26 of the helical tape path 20 from the rotary axial line of the rotary drum 18, and the relative approach of the magnetic head chip 23 relating to the tape 21 along the helical tape path 20 is controlled in a given level with respect to the tape 21 along the length of the helical tape path 20.</p> |
