PURPOSE:To shorten the working time of measurement and to make a result of the measurement accurate, by performing a calculation of the amount of mercury to penetrate into a specimen under test and a correction for the influence of temp. on the pressure in a pressurizing chamber to pores. CONSTITUTION:The pressure and volume change of mercury is detected 8 by immersing a porous specimen W under test into mercury 2 in a pressurizing chamber 3 and changing the pressure in the pressurizing chamber 3 under a prescribed control and making the mercury 2 penetrate into pores existing in the specimen W, and the diameter distribution of the pores existing in the specimen W is measured by measuring 12 the penetrated amount of the mercury corresponding to each pressure, and expressing each pressure in terms of the diameter of pores into which the mercury can penetrate by using surface tension of the mercury. In the case, the temp. in the pressurizing chamber 3 is detected 16 and the volume change of the mercury 2 is corrected by temp. to obtain the amount of mercury to penetrate. The change of surface tension due to temp. change is calculated to correct the diameter of pores. |
