PURPOSE:To increase the degree of multiplexing and to improve reliability by arranging optical fiber bundles to a hexagonally close packed state and directly mounting a filter and mirror to the other end of a lens. CONSTITUTION:This system is so constituted that the optical fiber bundles are arranged to the hexagonally close packed state and the fiber 11 and the mirror 13 are directly mounted to the other end of the lens 10. The distance to the optical fiber from the lens axis is, therefore, shortened and the influence of aberrations is decreased. Since the space does not exist on the optical path, the need for worrying about an increase of crosstalks by scattering, etc., and an increase of loss by dust and frost setting is eliminated; further, easy assembly is assured as there are no moving parts. The degree of multiplexing is increased in this way and the reliability is improved. The system having high reliability can be constructed if 2X2 optical switches 26 are used in combination. |
