A movable road barrier, especially for marking and dividing carriageways, consists of sections, each with a reinforced concrete base (1) with posts (4) at intervals supporting safety rails (3) fixed to either side of the posts. The posts can be in the form of metal bars with plates welded to their lower ends for fixing to the base with bolts, or the posts can be embedded in the concrete of the base, and the upper ends of the posts can be equipped with spacers (8, 8') to which the safety rails are attached. The opposite ends of the base can have a projection and recess to allow a series of sections to be fitted together in a continuous line, and they can also have holes for a fixing clamp. The ends of the safety rails can also be equipped with couplings to join adjacent rail sections together end-to-end. ADVANTAGE - Improved traffic control and greater safety for personnel working on marked-off section of roadway.
