PURPOSE: To facilitate replacement of jaw parts by axially supporting a clamping narrow strap via undercut parts within a slot in an upper jaw and a slot in a base jaw part extending diagonally to the longitudinal axis of a chuck, and adjusting the clamping narrow strap radially using a screw. CONSTITUTION: A clamping narrow strap 21 is provided at a base jaw part 4, is tilted by an angleαto a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis A to move radially within a guide slot 25, and is mounted and supported in a guide slot 27 provided in an upper jaw part 15. The guide slots 25, 27 have undercut parts, and the transverse webs 23, 24 of the clamping narrow strap 21 are supported. The clamping narrow strap 21 is moved radially via the contact surfaces 37, 38 and supporting surfaces 20, 26 of a shaft band 36 by an adjustment screw 31 inserted in a hole 32. Once this axial movement reaches the traveled distance which concide with the heights of toothed part on the end faces of the base jaw part 14 and the upper jaw part 15, the upper jaw part 15 is moved radially on the clamping narrow strap 21 and removed from the clamping narrow strap 21 and another upper jaw part 15 is installed with a position adjustment screw 31 screwed therein to enable the base jaw part 4 and the upper jaw part 15 to be connected together. |
