PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery from being deteriorated in its cyclic life caused by short circuit wherein a hydrogen occulated alloy in a rear earth metal series including Mn is used as a negative electrode by using a separator which >=0.15mm and <=0.3mm in thickness. CONSTITUTION:A battery is made up one of a negative electrode mainly composed of the composition of a hydrogen occulated alloy which is represented by an equation of Ln-Nix-Mny-Az (where Ln represents one single lanthanum or the mixture of rear earth metal element including La, A represents aluminum, at least one kind of cobalts, and 4.8<=X+Y+Z<=5.2), a positive electrode composed of a nickel compound, and out of a separator provided between said negative and positive electrodes, which >=0.15mm and <=0.3mm in thickness. As Ln, one single lanthanum (La) or a rear earth metal element including La can be used, practically a mesh metal can be used, and the mesh metal represented by Lm wherein the quantity of Ce is reduced to a figure less than 10wt.%, but the quantity of La is relatively increased up to 40 to 50wt.%, can be used, if desirable, in particular. By this constitution, electrical capacity is never reduced due to short circuit. |
