PURPOSE:To enhance the heat response and color forming sensitivity of a thermal recording material by providing a thermal recording layer containing a dye precursor, an electron acceptive compound developing the color of the dye precursor and a specific fluorenyl ether on a support. CONSTITUTION:A usually colorless - light-colored dye precursor, an electron acceptive compound reacting with said dye precursor at the time of heating to form a color and fluorenyl ether represented by formula I (wherein R is a substituted or non-substituted aryl group or an aralkyl group) are mixed with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble binder such as polyvinyl alcohol in respective predetermined amounts and ground by a ball mill to prepare a thermal coating solution. This thermal coating solution is applied to a support such as a nonwoven fabric or a plastic film and dried to form a thermal recording layer to obtain thermal recording material. The compounding amount of fluorenyl ether represented by the formula I is suitably about 20 - 30% by wt. of the electron acceptive compound. |
