A circuit for protecting a load against a reverse voltage connection comprises a power MOSFET (V1) whose shunt diode (1D) permits normal current flow when the load is correctly connected. A bistable element operating as a compressor (K) monitors the voltage drop across the diode and drain source path of the MOSFET. Should a reverse current caused by wrong polarity, reverse discharge of other capacitors or parallel connected power sources occur, the drain source path is shut off and no significant current can flow into the load. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ensures reliable low loss interface for protection of polarity sensitive devices. Superior to diode/relay combinations when several sources are present in network.
